The American Discovery Trail stretches more then 6,800 miles and 15 states. It is system of recreational trails and roads which collectively form the only coast-to-coast hiking and biking trail across the United States.

The American Discovery Trail enters Kentucky via the Roebling Suspension Bridge into downtown Covington.

The American Discovery Trail makes it way through Covington’s Downtown Renaissance District and then through Covington’s Mainstrasse neighborhood. So, named because of the major influx of German immigrants in the 1840’s and their history and settlement in Covington.

A steep climb up a set of cement steps takes the American Discovery Trail to Devou Park where there are outstanding views of Covington and downtown Cincinnati. Devou Park has a large network of hiking and mountain bike trails, and is home to the Behringer-Crawford Museum. The Behringer-Crawford Museum is a collection focus natural, cultural, and visual and performing arts heritage of the Northern Kentucky region. It has documented historic Civil War battery sites in Northern Kentucky and is a stop on the Civil War Discovery Trail.

After leaving Devou Park, the American Discover Trail leads you into the City of Ludlow where it connects with the Riverfront Commons Trail and follows KY 8 to the historic Anderson Ferry where the American Discovery Trail crosses back into Ohio.
